TGL’s Top 5 Playstation 3 Exclusives for 2010!
I think we can all agree that 2009 was a big year for both PS3 and Xbox 360. Both Sony and Microsoft alike shifted a lot of consoles, detailed plans for motion controllers to rival the Wii and delivered some massive exclusive and multiplatform titles such as Uncharted 2, Forza 3, Left 4 Dead 2, Killzone 2, Assassin’s Creed 2 and of course Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Somehow however, 2010 is promising to be an even bigger and better year for the big two HD consoles, with both Sony and Microsoft getting ready to hit the ground running with the release of some stellar and massive console specific exclusives. After much deliberation, we here at TGL have compiled a list of the Top 5 exclusives that were collectively looking forward to play most for both consoles. Here are our Top 5 picks for the PS3. Here we go:

5: MAG (Massive Action Game)
MAG is going to push the boundaries of online FPS’s to new limits. Originally announced at E3 2008, MAG will feature a 256 player online experience which no other current console FPS can even come close to. MAG is the brainchild of Zipper Interactive of SOCOM fame. MAG just recently finished a closed beta with an international open beta open to everyone with a PS3 from January 4th. The game itself launches at the end of January. Whether you’re a member of factions Sver, Raven Industries or the Valor company, you better get ready to lock and load because MAG is going to be massive.

4: Gran Turismo 5
What can you say about this game that hasn’t been said already? After years of delays, Gran Turismo 5 is finally coming in 2010 and that’s all that matters. Polyphony Digital’s first ‘true’ PS3 Gran Turismo title will no doubt set a new standard for every other driving simulator out there. With around 1000 cars promised, realistic car damage (a franchise first) and around 20 tracks (including the Top Gear test track), Gran Turismo 5 will the most comprehensive driving simulator ever released. This game will be nothing short of spectacular. Expect a summer release in Europe.

3: Heavy Rain
A lot has been said about Heavy Rain. It’s a game which defies categorization as we know it. Quantic Dream have constructed a title which will give ‘adult games’ a new meaning. It looks beautiful and promises to affect us, both emotionally and psychologically, in a way that no other game has ever done before. Heavy Rain will test our very consciousness and the way we traditionally interact and actually ‘play’ videogames. Judging from what we’ve seen so far, Heavy Rain is about to divide opinion and evoke questions of morality and taste not yet asked of any other game ever. We really can’t wait to ‘play’ it, whatever ‘play’ means in the world of Heavy Rain. It is penned for a February release.

2: God of War III
Kratos is back and back at what he does best, unsolicited carnage and callous rage. Kratos doesn’t do thinking. Kratos does killing. Like previous God of War games, number III just oozes death from the throngs of its core. Those of you who have played the demo have no doubt already fallen for GOW III’s unforgiving dedication to death and destruction. The guys at SCE Santa Monica have a monster on their hands. God of War III will be epic in every sense of the word. The game is set for a March release and will show every other ‘hack and slash’em’ pretender out there just how it’s supposed to be done. If Sony get this right, then this could very well be the winner of Game of the Year 2010. Arguably the most important exclusive in Sony’s 2010 arsenal.
1: The Last Guardian
At E3 2009, after years of rumour and speculation, Team Ico and Funito Ueda finally unveiled their latest title The Last Guardian. After the facile and beautiful Ico and the majestic and iconic Shadow of the Colossus, Ueda’s The Last Guardian easily sits atop our Top 5 anticipated PS3 titles for 2010. Just thinking about this game makes us weak at the knees. Udea and his team are creative geniuses unrivalled in the industry. Specific details of this title are sparse at the moment but its debut trailer, featuring a young boy and his best friend (a kind of griffin like creature) captured our hearts. This will be much more than just a game. It will be a beautiful artistic and emotional journey into our hearts and into our minds. This will be the masterpiece we expect it to be. TGL cannot wait. The Last Guardian is not just our most anticipated title for PS3 but also our most anticipated title for any format in 2010.
What do you think? Do you agree with our Top 5? What are you looking forward to play on PS3 in 2010? Thoughts and comments below everyone.
