Shenmue 3 a “possibility” – Sega

This news surfaced yesterday and after coming across it I ignored it as simple speculation and fans “wanting” it to happen but it seems that this story is in fact true. Being a huge Shenmue fan I thought about this all last night and the possibility of this happening has me tickled pink. Sega have, according to Eurogamer.pt said that although the series has been costly (Sega struggled for profit even with the popularity behind Shenmue) “they would love to make it” in exchange for an exclusive console deal. This means for example that if Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo funded the game that they would get a 100% exclusive deal in which Shenmue 3 would reside on that console, forever. This in some ways is the “holy grail” of gaming as Shenmue has never been so popular and a deal like this could see some serious profits fall into the laps of those interested. Here’s the information extracted from the statement:

“SEGA assured the fans that if there is some opportunity to revisit the series, they would love to do it. SEGA also mentioned the chance of one of the three hardware makers financing the game’s (Shenmue III) production in exchange for an exclusivity deal”

I read this and my eyes immediately lit up, I was 14 when Shenmue first hit the Dreamcast in fact I pre-ordered it several months ahead to make sure I got a copy. I have beat that game I would say over 15-20 times in the past 10 years and Shenmue II at least 5 times. I am 24 now and have been very disgruntled over the past 7 years since the release and my completion of Shenmue II. This is the one story and thing in my life that I want to complete before they put me in the ground, everyday that passes I still think about this game and it’s as if apart of me is incomplete or missing when i dwell on it. This may sound weird to some or disturbing but I have teared up before thinking that I am going to die before I get to finish the legendary quest of Ryo Hazuki to avenge his fathers death. If I had the money myself to fund this game I would do it in a heartbeat, it would have been made years ago but I am glad that SEGA has not abandoned it. We all know that Microsoft would be the corporation funding this game to be created for the Xbox 360 and If I could say one thing to the Bill Gates right now it would be, “Mr.Gates please fund this game, thousands and thousands of people are dying for closure on I would say the best game series ever created and you are the only man alive who can provide this for us”. Anyways I am praying to god that this is released and I will yet again be patiently waiting.

Yeah Shenmue was a real classic, way before it’s time and who knows what’s gonna happen with Shenmue 3 but the interesting fact is that Shenmue 2 was brought to the xbox…

Here is another thing that I just saw when I was browsing through the STEAM store, it really intrigued me because why would they have Ryo in this game if the franchise were in fact dead? Bear in mind this game is being released today.

it sounds like another fake story, why do people even bother, they waste their own time to waste others but it can be true, anyway if yakuza is struggling in the west, although it contains stuff they like, then shenmue would fail without dignity
