Kojima on Revengeance: ‘we might make it into a franchise’
Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has hinted that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance may not just be a one-time spin off for Raiden. The Rising brand could yet evolve into a fully fledged franchise all onto itself.
“If this game becomes hugely successful and popular, then we might make it into a franchise,” Kojima told CNN.
Kojima goes on to explain why he originally cancelled the game before handing over development duties to platinum Games.
“It was almost lost when they were making it,” he said. “It’s not that we do not have any good game designers in our development team. However, the concept for ‘Rising’ was completely new.”
“I cancelled it. I made the decision. I just thought that nothing good would come out of this.”
Revengeance is expected later this year for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
