DIRT 3 Confirmed By Codemasters!

March 12th, 2010 13:22

Codemasters have confirmed that DIRT 3 is in development. In an interview with EDGE Online, Codies Vice President Gavin Chesire confirmed that the game is on the way.

“Really, it’s all about letting the teams just innovate. There’s some great stuff coming from Birmingham that’s going into Dirt 3, and obviously you’ve seen Bodycount.

“I guess in today’s world, every day you’re dealing with people from all over the world. So it’s a British company and the last bastion of British publishing, and there is some pride in that, but it doesn’t take control of your life.

“It’s about the culture we’ve created and making the best games you can. Dirt 2: brilliant game but it’s all American accents, so maybe we’re a little over the top with those. Maybe we should fly the flag a bit more.”

Great news. the DIRT series is very under-rated. Expect this to drop on PS3, 360, Wii, PC and PSP.

March 11th, 2010 15:40

Harmonix have just confirmed that Green Day Rock Band will receive a June 8th worldwide launch. The game will feature an impressive 47 track playlist all off which can be exported to existing Rock Band games as well as the recently announced Rock Band 3 which should retail in time for Christmas. The above Box Art is taken from the American Release of the game. Americans are idiots, at least according to Green Day they are. I disagree.

New ‘.hack’ Game To Be Announced in Seven Days?

March 11th, 2010 14:33

Developers CyberConnect2 is running a ‘kojima like’ cloud themed teaser on their website that reads ‘7 days to go‘. One can therefore assume that some kind of game announcement or something to that effect is incoming. CyberConnect2 are synonymous for their development of the Naruto games as well as the extremely popular .hack games on PS2. Could a new .hack game be in the works? I guess we will just have to wait the seven days and see.

A Brief Look At Playstation Move’s First Supported Titles!

March 11th, 2010 12:33

Courtesy of the EU Playstation Blog, here’s a very quick glimpse at the first bunch of Playstation Move titles announced and shown off last night at the GDC 2010 launch. No real concrete details are known about these titles yet so until then, heres a brief description and a screenshot. Sony revealed last night that they have 20 first party specific move titles that will be ready for release this year. Here’s the first six.

DUKES:

A Bare-Knuckle Boxing Game. Utilizes both the Move and the additional sub controller to swing, punch and duck.

MOVE PARTY:

A Multiplayer Family Party Game. Think EyeToy Play meets Playstation 3. Uses the Move and the Playstation Eye to put you in the game.

SPORTS CHAMPIONS:

A Sports Game. Early demos of this were shown at E3 last year. Think of it as Sony’s Wii Sports like compilation. Includes traditional sports but also archery, table tennis and even what appears to be gladitorial combat.

TV SUPERSTARS:

Another party game, this one with a quiz show angle. PS Eye puts you in the game. Includes five different game show options.

SLIDER:

A Kung-Fu Action Game. You play an office worker who roams the streets, sliding around on an office chair performing Kung-Fu moves. Sounds like fun.

THE SHOOT:

A movie/party game/shooter. You have to shoot bad guys while being filmed. The director of ‘the shoot’ will determine if your shooting is good enough to progress. Get it?

PLAYSTATION MOVE LOGO:

And just in case you still haven’t seen the actual ‘Move’ logo yet, here it is attached to a promo image for the controller in the bottom right hand corner. For a better look at the actual controller itself, go here.

Here’s some gameplay from the above mentioned titles (and a couple of others) for you to enjoy:

March 11th, 2010 11:25

Medal of Honor is out in Autumn.

It’s Official! Sony’s Motion Controller Is ‘Playstation Move’!

March 11th, 2010 01:09

It’s official. Sony has just confirmed in the last couple of minutes that it’s forthcoming motion controller will be called ‘Playstation Move’.

At it’s GDC 2010 keynote reveal, Sony’s Peter Dille announced that  “previous motion devices have used controller simply as pointer of mouse — ours becomes an extension of your body.”

We’re approaching this like a virtual platform launch,” Dille continued, explaining that the Move would be available by itself, with the PlayStation Eye camera, which it will work in conjunction with, and as part of a special forthcoming PlayStation 3 bundle.

Dille didn’t give any real pricing details away but the Move bundle with the PlayStation Eye and a game will be priced at just under $100. That’s about, let’s say, €75 to you and me folks.

During the keynote, Sony showed off a number of demos as well as first party titles such as Little Big planet and Socom 4. Socom 4 it appears will fully support the Move as well as it’s sub-controller. The Move is being supported by 36 third party firms. That and 20 first party Move titles will be available by years end. All of that and Sony even mentioned that 3D Gaming would be supported this summer.

No concrete release date was mentioned.

So what do you think? Will you be tempted to buy a ‘Move’?
